Description
Overview
The Vinex Comp Javelin Range 70m/700gm is a 700 g competition javelin listed as an IAAF approved model, built in alloy with a cord grip. Its suitability rating is under 17 boys with a distance rating up to 45 metres, which makes it a competition implement rather than a first javelin for PE. It arrives in a protective storage tube and sits in our javelins range with the 600 g and 800 g models.
Key benefits
- Listed as an IAAF approved model, so it suits competition throwing.
- Alloy shaft with a cord grip gives a secure hold on release.
- Rated for throws up to 45 metres, matched to under 17 boys.
- Protective storage tube keeps the tip and shaft safe between meets.
Who it's for
The 700 g javelin is the men's 16–17 years implement in the weight guide, and the men's masters weight for 50–59 years, so it suits secondary school athletics and club throwers in those bands. Men 18 and over move up to the Comp Javelin Range 60m/800gm, while women 18 and over and men under 15 use the Comp Javelin Range 60m/600gm. For first-time throwers in PE, a Foam Javelin – Junior is the usual starting point.
Sizing guide
Javelin weight follows age and gender: 400 g for women under 15; 500 g for men under 15 and women 16–17; 600 g for men under 15 and women 18 and over; 700 g for men 16–17; 800 g for men 18 and over. Masters bands run the other way, with 700 g used by men aged 50–59.
Care, safety and set-up
Keep the javelin in its protective tube between sessions and off the ground when not in use. Throwing should be supervised by a coach or teacher on a marked sector.
