Description
Overview
The Focus 505 is a self-contained portable sound system for athletics days, swimming sports, assemblies and club functions. Everything sits in one box: a Class D amplifier rated at about 50 W, a 6 1/2 in full-range speaker, a 100 channel UHF wireless microphone receiver, a Bluetooth receiver and a digital recorder and player for USB sticks and SD cards.
It is sized to cover a medium group, roughly a meeting hall or a tennis-court-sized area of up to about 200 people. If you need to reach a bigger crowd or a full field, the Challenger Portable Sound System (Bluetooth+Digital) is the larger unit in our pa equipment range, and it shares the same repeater system.
Key benefits
- Announce from anywhere on the grounds: runs on mains or a built-in rechargeable lead-acid battery.
- Run up to 2 UHF wireless microphones at once, or one mic plus a repeater.
- Clear speech and music from a hi-fi range of 50 Hz to 20 kHz with low distortion.
- Play music from a phone over Bluetooth, with remote operation of the player.
- Record and play back MP3 files from USB sticks and SD cards.
- Separate volume controls for mic, aux, bass and treble keep announcements intelligible.
Who it's for
Choose the Focus 505 when one person needs to run a whole event: a PE teacher calling races at a school athletics day, a swim club announcer on poolside, or a club secretary at a prizegiving. It works indoors and outdoors, and mounts on the ST-40 tripod stand or SR-40 wall bracket, both sold separately.
It is not the unit for large fields or crowds well beyond a couple of hundred people. For those events look at the larger systems in our sound & pa category, or ask our team to quote a fit-out for your school or club.
Care, safety and set-up
Charge the battery through the smart charging circuit; the LED indicator shows charging status. The optional SB-21 carrying bag protects the unit between venues. It ships from local stock and is covered by our 12-month guarantee.
Frequently asked questions
Does it need mains power to run?
No. The built-in rechargeable lead-acid battery lets you run it cable-free anywhere on the grounds, and you can plug into mains when it is available.
How many wireless microphones can I use?
Up to 2 UHF wireless microphones, or one microphone plus a repeater. It is compatible with the repeater system used in the StagePro and Challenger PA systems.
Can I add a second speaker for a bigger area?
Yes. There is an external speaker output, and a companion speaker is available. Contact our team if you need one quoted with the system.
Can I play music from my phone?
Yes. The Bluetooth receiver is built in and the player can be operated remotely. You can also play and record MP3 files from a USB stick or SD card.
