Description
Overview
The difference between this and the senior Avaro set is the belt. The Avaro Tag Rugby Set – JNR uses the 86 cm Velcro belt, the shorter junior length, so it sits properly on smaller players rather than wrapping around twice. Tag numbers are the same: 20 red and 20 yellow, enough for 10 players a side with two tags each.
It comes in a bag, which makes it a grab-and-go option for junior rugby modules, lunchtime games and PE units. Look through our all junior sports category if you are building a wider junior programme, or the Avaro range for other tag and touch gear.
Key benefits
- Shorter 86 cm belts are sized for junior waists.
- Colour-coded tags split a class into two teams instantly.
- One bag holds a whole game, so set-up and pack-down are quick.
- Two tags per player, matching how tag and rippa are played.
- Lost tags and belts can be replaced singly from the same Avaro range.
Who it's for
Pick this set for junior rugby modules, kura and school PE where the players are children. Non-contact tag and rippa rugby is a common introduction to the game, and this kit removes the need to sort belts and tags from a loose bin. Older students and adults need the longer belt in the Avaro Tag Rugby Set – SNR.
Care, safety and set-up
Keep the set in its bag and do a tag count at the end of each session; a set is only useful while it has tags for everyone. Let belts dry before packing them away after wet-grass games. This is imported stock held in NZ, delivered nationwide and covered by our 12-month guarantee.
Frequently asked questions
How is the junior set different from the senior set?
Only the belt length. Junior belts are 86 cm; the senior set uses longer belts. Tag quantities and colours are identical.
Can I use it for rippa rugby as well as tag?
Yes. Belts and pull-off tags are the equipment for both tag and rippa rugby; only the playing rules differ.
Is there a school funding or quote option?
Yes. Add the set to a quote and request a quote, and ask about funding packages for schools and clubs.
Do I need to buy anything else to play?
The belts, tags and bag are all here. Many schools add a few spare tags to cover losses over a term.
