Description
Overview
The Avaro Throw Down Base Set is a five-piece set of rubber bases that lays straight on the ground. There is nothing to peg or dig in, so a PE teacher can mark out a softball diamond on the school field, an asphalt court or a gym floor, run the lesson and stack the set back in the shed. It sits in our softball bases range as the standard set.
It is the lighter of our two throw-down sets. If you run senior club games or want thicker bases for heavy use, compare it with the Senior Heavy Duty Throw Down Base Set before you decide.
Key benefits
- Sets up a full diamond fast, with no pegs or ground fixings.
- Complete in one box: three bases, home plate and pitcher's plate.
- Rubber bases sit flat and stay put better than cones or markers.
- Light enough to carry in one hand at about 2 kg for the set.
Who it's for
Primary and secondary PE classes, school teams and junior clubs playing softball or baseball on shared fields where you cannot leave bases installed. It is also handy for after-school programmes that move between venues.
Senior clubs running regular competition games should look at the Senior Heavy Duty Throw Down Base Set, which is built for harder use. Everything else for the diamond is in the wider Avaro range.
Care, safety and set-up
Hose off grass and grit after use and let the bases dry before stacking them, so they do not sit damp in a gear bag. Store flat to keep them lying true on the ground.
Frequently asked questions
Is the pitcher's plate included?
Yes. The set has three bases, one home plate and one pitcher's plate, five pieces in total.
Does it need pegs or anchors?
No. These are throw-down bases that lay on the surface, which is why they suit fields you cannot dig into.
Is this the right set for a senior club?
For senior competition, the Senior Heavy Duty Throw Down Base Set is the sturdier option. This standard set suits school and junior use.
